In late 2005 Oi was asked by Walsall Council/WBSP to carry out some preliminary work on a long-tem aspirational Vision for Walsall in 2021. Recognising that Vision 2008 was a shorter term timescale plan to which people could relate to and provided focus, direction and cohesion therefore allowing for pride and confidence to be built around specific objectives. It was also acknowledged that a long-term vision would be required to connect here and now to the future, by engaging partners, stakeholders and Walsall’s community in a process to discover what Walsall can be in 2021.

To determine this Vision a process of Appreciative Inquiry began in early 2006. Appreciative Inquiry seeks people’s opinions during a conversation around four given topics. This process allows for a conversation to take place which is focused on the positive aspects of the here and now and builds upon these facts to discover what the Vision for 2021 is.

On these pages you will find the synthesis of the conversations which have already taken place and what the key headlines are.

During 2007 we plan to hold many more conversations, culminating with a large-scale event in December 2007 where the master vision will be agreed. We will update these pages with further syntheses as and when they occur.
