SUPPORT
Empowering Lives Through Biking
We believe that in coming together, talking through situations, finding a purpose, and by demonstrating that people do care, we will be able to show these men (and women) that real joy can be found in life again and will give them a reason to re-evaluate their options.
Obviously, for us, we enjoy building and riding motorbikes, meeting up with like-minded people from all over the country and we believe that sharing this with these young men, along with the camaraderie of our members both locally and nationwide, will give them a new perspective on life.
So by bringing bikers with skills, life experience and the ability to relate to predominately men with mental health issues who are at a higher risk of self harm we believe we can make a difference, both to them and to society at large.
We appreciate that sometimes life can be incredibly hard, you can, as we did, lose everything overnight in a fire, at this point, you need your family or your mates to draw alongside you and stand with you. A few months later we had found a new unit, relocated to Newtown and established ourselves again. Biker group opens new Powys base after old one burned down | County Times
Sometimes you just need to get past the next day, week , month, just keep going till it gets better, and it’s easier with company.

Our solution to the problem
At WBSP our aim is to reduce the epidemic of male suicides in Wales especially in young men (18 to 44+) by offering them the things that appear to be missing in their lives – mainly camaraderie, purpose and a chance to rediscover some of the joys of life. We appreciate that sometimes life can be incredibly hard, you can as we did lose everything overnight in a fire, at this point you need your family or your mates to draw alongside you and stand with you. Sometimes you just need to get past the next day, week , month, just keep going till it gets better and it’s easier with company.
When times are tough find a way of finding some joy again. For us one of the greatest joys in life is going for ride to the coast with your mates, on bikes that you’ve built together, coffee and chips on the beach always creates a smile.
So in order to achieve this and to be able to hit the ground running, we are very pleased to be working with the support of the Valley Commandos Motorcycle Club, (VC) the largest motorcycle club in Wales. They were the first to appreciate the need for the WBSP charity and to offer their support.
We are also in discussions with other motorcycle clubs in the country to make sure we cater for as many men in as many areas of Wales as possible.
ACTION
“Create Hope Through Action”
It’s time we empowered others to be in charge of their lives, and realise the true value the one life they have
“Starting the conversation, Changing the Narrative”
We will be holding fortnightly Wednesday Bike Nights and last Saturday of the month Day Meets at our unit 28, on the Vastre Industrial Estate in Newtown to reach out to local bikers and their friends, with the aim to provide opportunities to start conversations, teach the younger or newer bikers about safe riding and basic bike maintenance. A local fully-trained motorcycle mechanic from Welshpool, Dale, is one of the professionals that has agreed to assist us with regular talks and maintenance demonstrations.

Why Motorcycling works so well
Comments from Mental Health Motorbikes website:
“I’ve suffered from anxiety for over 20 years or so and it’s the one thing that is guaranteed to help, owning and riding a motorcycle. Support each other, especially us men, as we seem to not be able to share our demon’s.”
“Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul”
“I’m a 70-year-old woman with 3 motorbikes. When people say to me “Isn’t that dangerous”, I say, “Buying a motorbike saved my life”. They give me a blank stare until the message sinks in”
“Two wheels has almost cost me my life, but it has also saved my life. There is nothing on earth that is like riding, nothing.”
“Mental health is a serious matter in the USA. After my military career was over I had big problems with PTSD, depression and anger. I got help and I have been on bikes since I was 4 yr old. I’m now 63, and still ride even with the loss of my right leg. My friends say I am crazy, I say I have limited stress, all things considered. Note: You ever notice there is never a bike parked at the Psychiatrist office?”
“I suffer badly from depression. The greatest treatment was returning to biking six years ago. My bike is even mentioned in my medical records. Biking is good for you”
